Der Vollbergpark, in dem wir stehen, bietet und bot erholsame Erfrischung in der Natur, auch schon für bürgerliche Sommergäste der Jahrhundertwende. 

Entworfen und angelegt wurde dieser Park um 1900 vom Verschönerungsverein Hainfeld. Die damals neu errichteten Denkmäler Kaiserstiege, Schillerdenkmal und Lusthaus wurden  mit Promenadenwegen verbunden. Ähnlich wie bei der heutigen Kulturmeile war der Weg das Ziel.

Dieser Sparzierweg hier wurde mit Linden- und Eschenbäumen gesäumt. Das Besondere an dieser Allee ist, dass sie nur für Fußgänger angelegt wurde. Das Naturdenkmal wirkt durch seine schmalen und hohen Proportionen wie ein gotischer Kathedralraum. Das paradoxe Ergebnis ist heute eine Allee, nur für Fußgänger angelegt, inmitten eines Waldes.

The Vollberg Park, where we are standing, offers and has offered relaxing refreshment in nature, even for middle-class summer visitors at the turn of the century.

This park was designed and laid out around 1900 by the Hainfeld Beautification Association. The then newly erected monuments, the Kaiserstiege, the Schiller Monument, and the Lusthaus, were connected by promenades. Similar to today's cultural mile, the journey was the destination.

This walking path was lined with linden and ash trees. The special thing about this avenue is that it was designed exclusively for pedestrians. With its narrow and tall proportions, the natural monument resembles a Gothic cathedral space. The paradoxical result is today an avenue, designed exclusively for pedestrians, in the middle of a forest.
