Kirche zum hl. Andreas

Als Pfarre 1161 erstmals in einem Göttweiger Traditionsbuch erwähnt, wird Hainfeld im 16. Jahr­hundert unter den Jörgern, die sich protestantische Prediger holten, evangelisch. 1616 wird mit David G. Corner, dem späteren Abt von Göttweig, wieder ein katholischer Priester eingesetzt. Die Pfarre gehört  bis heute zum Stift Göttweig.

Türkeneinfälle, napoleonische Besetzung und besonders der zweite Weltkrieg hinterlassen an der Kirche ihre Spuren. 

1978 bekommen Pfarre und Stadt mit dem Neubau des Pfarrzentrums einen neuen Begegnungsort. Das wertvolle „Barockstöckl“ bleibt erhalten. Unsere Kirche wurde zuletzt von 1991 bis 2004 renoviert, dabei stieß man auch auf einen verborgenen Raum unter dem Kreuzaltar.

Die Einrichtung ist überwiegend neugotisch, einige Exponate stammen aus dem 16. Jahrhundert.

Das Bauwerk „Kirche“ wird durch die Menschen erst belebt. 

St. Andrew's Church

First mentioned as a parish in a Göttweig tradition book in 1161, Hainfeld became Protestant in the 16th century under the Jörger family, who hired Protestant preachers. In 1616, a Catholic priest was reinstated: David G. Corner, later Abbot of Göttweig. The parish remains part of Göttweig Abbey to this day.

Turkish invasions, Napoleonic occupation, and especially the Second World War left their mark on the church.

In 1978, the parish and town gained a new meeting place with the construction of the new parish center. The valuable "Baroque Stöckl" (small Baroque building) remains intact. Our church was last renovated from 1991 to 2004, during which time a hidden room was discovered beneath the crucifix altar.

The furnishings are predominantly neo-Gothic, with some exhibits dating back to the 16th century.

The church as a building is only brought to life by its people.
