Der alte Friedhof um die Kirche war zu klein geworden und so wurde 1899 ein neuer angelegt. Die damals errichtete Aufbahrungshalle steht unter Denkmalschutz, das Friedhofswärterhaus wurde noch bis 1966 von einem Friedhofswärter bewohnt. 

Karl Hartmann, Vorbesitzer der Schraubenfabrik Schmid im Landstal, ließ um 1895 das „Hartmann Mausoleum“ als Familiengruft im neugotischen Stil errichten. Das ebenfalls denkmalgeschützte Grabmal ist seit 1954 im Eigentum der Gemeinde und wurde seitdem mehrere Male restauriert. 

Weiters interessant das Grabdenkmal von Gustav Girtschall aus dem Jahre 1909. In lebensgroßer Figur wird der Unternehmer und damalige Besitzer des „Auwerks" (der Stahlwarenfabrik auf der Au) dargestellt. Im Hintergrund ist die von ihm erbaute Villa als Relief zu sehen.

Cemetery Impressions

The old cemetery around the church had become too small, so a new one was established in 1899. The funeral hall built at that time is a listed building, and the cemetery caretaker's house was occupied by a cemetery caretaker until 1966.

Karl Hartmann, the previous owner of the Schmid screw factory in Landstal, had the "Hartmann Mausoleum" built as a family crypt in the neo-Gothic style around 1895. The tombstone, also a listed building, has been owned by the municipality since 1954 and has since been restored several times.

Also of interest is the gravestone of Gustav Girtschall from 1909. A life-size figure depicts the entrepreneur and then-owner of the "Auwerk" (the steel goods factory on the Au). In the background, the villa he built can be seen in relief.

Take a look around and admire the peaceful coexistence of simple gravestones and the magnificent self-presentation of self-confident bourgeoisie!
