Rathaus: Phoenix aus der Asche 

Hainfeld brannte 1945 am Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges tagelang. Die SS hatte die Stadt vor ihrem Rückzug Richtung Ramsau und Kleinzell mit Flammenwerfern in Brand gesteckt. Hainfeld war dadurch die nach Wiener Neustadt am zweitschwersten zerstörteste Stadt Österreichs. 

Der Wiederaufbau war das bestimmende Thema der Nachkriegszeit. Der Neuanfang gelang und heute ist Hainfeld seit Jahrzehnten eine lebendige Stadt mit sehr guter Infrastruktur.

Das Rathaus, 1906/07 im Auftrag der Sparkasse Hainfeld von Stadtbaumeister Josef Lenz erbaut, beherbergte von Beginn an im Erdgeschoss die Amtsräume der Gemeinde.

Town Hall: Phoenix from the Ashes

Hainfeld burned for days at the end of World War II in 1945. The SS had set the town ablaze with flamethrowers before retreating towards Ramsau and Kleinzell. As a result, Hainfeld was the second most heavily destroyed town in Austria after Wiener Neustadt.

Reconstruction was the dominant theme of the postwar period. The new beginning was successful, and today Hainfeld has been a vibrant town with excellent infrastructure for decades.

The town hall, built in 1906/07 by city architect Josef Lenz on behalf of the Hainfeld Savings Bank, housed the municipal offices on the ground floor from the very beginning.
